Roof deformation during refurbishment works at residential property

A residential property undergoing structural modifications, including a loft conversion and side extension, presented roof misalignment and deflection following contractor works, leading to a dispute between the owner and contractor on the adequacy of construction and the necessity of remedial works.

I was engaged to assess the adequacy of the pitched roof design and construction, determine causes of deformation, and evaluate proposed remedial options. This work included a review of the design, site records and construction sequence.

The findings of this investigation were provided to the solicitors acting for the owner of the property to inform their client’s position, insurance and remediation strategies.
