Solar farm damage during high winds

England, United Kingdom

High winds caused loss of photovoltaic panels and structural damage across a solar farm comprising more than 150,000 panels, with failures concentrated at panel clamps and mounting frames.

I was engaged to determine the cause of damage and assess the performance of parties responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the farm. This work included a consideration of proportionate remedial works and maintenance regimes.

The findings of this investigation were provided to the solicitors acting for the owner of the solar farm, to inform their client’s position and remedial strategy.
