Water ingress in basement

London, United Kingdom

A recently completed mixed-use development in central London with a single-level basement experienced widespread water ingress shortly after completion. The basement waterproofing comprised two lines of defence, but both were compromised and water found its way into the basement at several locations, leading to the need for remedial works.

Halley Forensics was engaged to investigate the routes and causes of the water ingress, comment on the adequacy of the waterproofing design and workmanship, review the findings of other experts and the remedial works carried out to date.

The findings of this investigation were reported to the solicitors acting for the main contractor, to inform their client's position towards the employer and its sub-contarctors.
