Airport terminal: delay and disruption claims

Middle East
The construction of a new terminal building at an international Middle-East airport encountered delay and increased costs, leading to a high-value dispute between the contractor and the government, ultimately referred to International Arbitration.
For the purposes of this matter, I was asked to investigate the technical aspects of delay and disruption claims relating to the design of foundations and material quantity increases (concrete and steel reinforcement) and support the preparation of expert testimony for the arbitration proceedings. This work included a forensic review of the impact of design alterations arising from Engineer’s Instructions, in a seismic context.
